Security Tightened Across Chandigarh Following Delhi Tragedy
Chandigarh has been placed on high alert following a devastating explosion near Delhi's Red Fort Metro station that claimed eight lives and left several others injured. The Chandigarh Police acted swiftly on Monday evening, implementing enhanced security measures across the city in response to central intelligence inputs.

Acting on urgent alerts from central agencies, Chandigarh Police intensified checking and patrolling at all critical public locations. The security deployment includes railway stations, inter-state bus terminals (ISBTs), and crowded market areas throughout the city.
Senior police officials confirmed that the high alert was activated immediately after reports of the Delhi blast emerged. Police Control Room (PCR) teams and local police stations have been directed to conduct joint patrolling in all high-footfall zones and vital installations.
Security personnel at Chandigarh railway station and ISBT-17 and ISBT-43 have been instructed to maintain round-the-clock vigilance. The police have significantly enhanced luggage screening procedures, identity verification checks, and random vehicle inspections at all entry points to the city.

Inspector General of Police Pushpendra Kumar emphasized that the security measures are preventive in nature and aimed at maintaining peace in Chandigarh. The Police Control Room units have been instructed to increase mobility and maintain constant communication with market associations and shopkeepers for immediate reporting of any potential threats. This coordinated approach ensures quick response capabilities across the city.
