Tragic Stabbing at Birthday Party Claims Young Man's Life
A young man's life was tragically cut short in the early hours of Saturday, November 24, 2025, following a violent altercation at a birthday party in Chandigarh's Sector 56. The victim, identified as 24-year-old Vishal, was allegedly stabbed to death by an acquaintance, Shubham, in a shocking incident that has left the community in mourning.
How the Night of Celebration Turned Deadly
According to details provided by the police, the incident occurred around 1:30 am outside the residence of complainant Gurmeet Kumar. His son had hosted a birthday gathering, which both Vishal and Shubham attended. The police report indicates that both men were allegedly under the influence of alcohol when they stepped out of the house and became involved in a heated argument.
Despite attempts by other family members present to calm the situation, the confrontation quickly escalated. The verbal spat turned physical, with the two pushing each other and exchanging abuses. In a fateful turn, Shubham reportedly went to his nearby residence, retrieved a knife, and returned to the scene to attack Vishal.
The Aftermath and Police Investigation
Shubham allegedly stabbed Vishal multiple times in the abdomen and other body parts before fleeing. Neighbours and family members, witnessing the brutal attack, immediately rushed a critically injured Vishal to the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital in Sector 16. Unfortunately, the doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead upon arrival.
The body was subsequently transferred to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination. Ram Dayal, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Sector 39 police station, swiftly reached the location, conducted an inspection, and called in a forensic team to collect evidence.
In a prompt follow-up, the police managed to track down and arrest Shubham within hours of the crime. The alleged murder weapon, the knife, was also recovered from his possession. A preliminary police investigation has suggested that the two men had no prior history of disputes, and the fatal fight appears to have been a spontaneous outburst triggered by excessive drinking.
The tragedy is profoundly devastating for Vishal's family. He was employed with a private company and is survived by his wife and a very young child.
