Chandigarh & Mohali Police Launch Joint Ops for Safe New Year Celebrations
Chandigarh, Mohali Police Coordinate for New Year Security

In a significant move to ensure public safety, the police forces of Chandigarh and Mohali have announced a coordinated strategy for the upcoming New Year festivities. The decision emerged from a high-level meeting where senior officers from both jurisdictions agreed to work in tandem to prevent any untoward incidents.

Senior Officers Forge Unified Strategy

The crucial coordination meeting saw the participation of key police officials. DSP Harsimran Singh Ball (City 2) provided details, noting that the meeting was attended by DSP Prithvi Singh Chahal (City 1), SDPO (South Chandigarh) Gurjeet Kaur, and several Station House Officers (SHOs) from police stations across Chandigarh and Mohali. The meeting was convened on the directions of SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans, with SP (City) Dilpreet Singh also contributing valuable inputs on maintaining law and order.

Key Decisions for Enhanced Security

The officers formulated a concrete action plan focusing on seamless cooperation. A primary decision was for police station heads, especially in bordering areas, to actively share intelligence and operational information. The plan includes setting up special joint checkpoints (nakas) on both sides of the border to effectively monitor and deter anti-social activities.

Immediate action was taken following the meeting, with a joint checkpoint being established right away to check suspicious persons. The police have made it clear that stringent measures will be enforced against specific offences to ensure peaceful celebrations.

Strict Actions to be Enforced

The joint initiative will target behaviours that typically disrupt public order during celebrations. The police have vowed to take strict action against drunk driving and hooliganism. Furthermore, a special verification drive will be launched to identify and monitor known anti-social elements in the region. The overarching goal of this collaborative effort is to guarantee that residents of both Chandigarh and Mohali can usher in the New Year in a secure and peaceful environment.
