Woman Stabbed in Chandigarh's Japanese Garden Following Dispute
In a disturbing incident at the Japanese Garden in Sector 31, Chandigarh, a woman was stabbed with a sharp-edged weapon on Thursday night. The attack occurred after an altercation with a group of individuals who were allegedly creating a nuisance in the public space.
Details of the Assault
According to Rani, a resident of Daria and friend of the victim, Khushi, the two had visited the garden around 5:30 PM for a photoshoot. They encountered a group of six to seven men and women who were reportedly causing disruption. When Rani and Khushi attempted to intervene, one of the women, identified as Asha from Hallomajra, began verbally abusing Khushi.
As the situation escalated, Asha allegedly assaulted Khushi on her back and waist using a sharp weapon. Rani stated that the men accompanying Asha also joined in the assault, further endangering the victims.
Police Response and Investigation
Rani immediately contacted the police control room at 112, prompting a swift response. A PCR van and officers from the Sector 31 police station arrived at the scene and rushed Khushi to GMCH-32 for medical treatment.
The police have recorded statements from both Rani and Khushi as part of their ongoing investigation. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from the area to gather more evidence and identify all individuals involved in the incident.
