Chandni Chowk Jewellery Heist: Armed Robbers Flee with Rs 60 Lakh Gold in 14 Seconds

In a brazen daylight robbery, a wholesale gold jewellery shop in Delhi's historic Chandni Chowk area was targeted by armed assailants on Wednesday afternoon. The incident, which unfolded with shocking speed, resulted in the theft of 12 to 15 gold chains valued at approximately Rs 60 lakh.

Lightning-Fast Operation Captured on CCTV

The robbery occurred at approximately 1:34 pm at Nathi Lal Ashok Kumar Jewellers, a well-established establishment that has been serving customers in the bustling market for nearly three decades. According to the shop owner, Ashok Kumar Chaurasia, three armed men entered the premises while his son and an employee were present inside.

"In CCTV footage, it can be seen that they committed the crime and got out of the shop in just 14 seconds," Chaurasia revealed, highlighting the audacious efficiency of the heist. The surveillance video from inside the store reportedly shows one of the assailants brandishing a pistol, while the other two were not wearing masks, suggesting a bold disregard for identification.

Violent Confrontation and Swift Theft

The armed robber allegedly struck an employee on the head with the butt of the pistol, causing immediate distress and disorientation. Simultaneously, a second assailant restrained Chaurasia's son by covering his mouth and issuing a stern warning that they would shoot if he attempted to raise an alarm.

Amid the chaos and intimidation, the third robber swiftly grabbed the gold jewellery displayed at the counter, seizing the valuable chains before making a rapid escape. The entire sequence, from entry to exit, was completed in a mere 14 seconds, leaving the victims in shock and the local community alarmed.

Details of the Targeted Establishment

Nathi Lal Ashok Kumar Jewellers has been a fixture in Chandni Chowk for 30 years, known for its wholesale gold jewellery offerings. The shop's long-standing presence in the area makes this incident particularly unsettling for local business owners and residents who rely on the market's security and reputation.

The robbery has raised concerns about safety in one of Delhi's most iconic commercial districts, prompting calls for enhanced security measures and police vigilance. Authorities are currently investigating the case, reviewing the CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators and trace their escape route.

This heist underscores the vulnerability of high-value businesses to coordinated criminal acts, even in broad daylight. The community awaits further updates as law enforcement works to apprehend the suspects and recover the stolen gold.
