Kerala Crime Branch Submits Chargesheet in Sensational Jainamma Murder Case
The Kerala Crime Branch, which has been investigating the high-profile Jainamma murder case, has reportedly submitted a formal chargesheet against the accused. This significant development in the case was confirmed with the report being filed before a court in Ettumanoor, marking a crucial step forward in the legal proceedings.
Discovery of Skeletal Remains at Real Estate Broker's Property
The case originated from a grim discovery made during a search operation at the house compound of C M Sebastian, a 68-year-old real estate broker located in Pallippuram near Cherthala, Alappuzha district. Investigators recovered over 10 skeletal pieces, which were later identified as belonging to Jain Mathew, also known as Jainamma, a 65-year-old native of Ettumanoor in Kottayam district who had been reported missing.
On July 28 of last year, an excavation search at the compound unearthed a skull, thigh bone, and the remains of a clipped tooth, all found in a burned state. This led to further intensive searches in the surrounding areas. The probe team took extensive measures, including draining a pond within the compound and excavating its base, where they discovered additional evidence such as a bag, a piece of a sari, cloth fragments, and a portion of a rosary.
Broader Implications and Additional Allegations
Beyond the Jainamma case, Sebastian is also accused of murdering two other women, adding a layer of complexity and gravity to the investigation. The submission of the chargesheet by the Crime Branch underscores the thoroughness of the probe and the seriousness with which the authorities are treating these allegations.
