Electrician Arrested for Alleged Murder in Chennai's Keezhkattalai

In a tragic incident stemming from a financial dispute, the Madipakkam police arrested a 30-year-old electrician on Friday for the alleged murder of his neighbour. The crime, which occurred in the Gandhi Nagar area of Keezhkattalai, Chennai, was reportedly triggered by an unpaid debt of Rs 10,000.

The Debt That Led to Tragedy

The accused, identified as Krishnaraj, had lent the sum of Rs 10,000 to his 35-year-old neighbour, Chinnaya, a few months ago. Chinnaya worked as a painter in the same locality. According to police reports, the two men were frequently involved in heated arguments over the repayment of this money. The situation escalated on Thursday night after both individuals had consumed alcohol, leading to another fierce quarrel regarding the unpaid loan.

A Brutal Attack Under Cover of Night

Later that night, taking advantage of the situation, the accused allegedly carried out the violent act. When Chinnaya was asleep near the entrance of his own house, Krishnaraj is said to have struck him repeatedly with a brick. After the attack, Krishnaraj fled the scene. Family members of the victim discovered the critically injured Chinnaya and immediately rushed him to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital for emergency treatment.

Police Action and Ongoing Investigation

Despite medical efforts, Chinnaya succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on Friday. Following his death, the Madipakkam police swiftly registered a case and launched an investigation. Their probe led to the arrest of the prime suspect, Krishnaraj, on the same day. Authorities have confirmed that a thorough investigation into the matter is currently underway to piece together the complete sequence of events.

This shocking case highlights how a relatively small financial dispute between neighbours spiraled into a fatal outcome, leaving a family in mourning and a community in shock.
