Chennai Man Murders Neighbor Couple in Fatal Stabbing Incident
In a shocking and tragic event, a 42-year-old man in Chennai has been arrested for stabbing his neighbor and the neighbor's wife to death following a heated argument that escalated from a parking dispute into a violent confrontation. The incident occurred on Monday night at Kanathur Reddikuppam, leaving the local community in a state of profound shock and grief.
Background of the Suspected Affair and Marital Strife
The accused, identified as S Parthiban, also known as Parthasarathy, worked as both a car driver and a fisherman. He resided in the same locality as the victims: Sushil Raj, a 32-year-old fisherman, and his 29-year-old wife, Girija. According to police reports, Parthiban had long harbored suspicions that his own wife, Jamuna, was involved in an affair with Sushil Raj. This suspicion led to frequent and intense quarrels between Parthiban and Jamuna, severely straining their marriage.
Approximately one-and-a-half years ago, following one such bitter dispute, Jamuna left Parthiban and moved to her mother's house in Saidapet. Since that time, Parthiban had been living alone, with the unresolved issues and emotional turmoil continuing to fester beneath the surface.
The Fatal Argument Over Parking and Marriage Remarks
The situation reached a boiling point on Monday night when an argument erupted after Girija questioned Parthiban for parking a two-wheeler outside his house. During the exchange, Girija made pointed remarks about Parthiban's strained marriage and his wife's departure. These comments, touching on a deeply sensitive and painful subject, reportedly enraged Parthiban beyond control.
In a fit of uncontrollable anger, Parthiban retreated into his house, where he seized two kitchen knives. He then launched a violent attack on Girija, stabbing her repeatedly. When Sushil Raj attempted to intervene and protect his wife, he too was stabbed by Parthiban in the ensuing chaos.
Aftermath and Police Investigation
The attack resulted in immediate and severe consequences. Girija succumbed to her injuries on the spot, while Sushil Raj was rushed to a nearby hospital in a critical condition. Despite medical efforts, he later died from his wounds, marking a double tragedy for the families involved.
The bodies of both victims were subsequently sent to the Royapettah Government Hospital for a thorough postmortem examination to determine the exact causes of death and gather forensic evidence. Police swiftly arrested Parthiban at the scene, and he has been remanded in judicial custody as the investigation progresses.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, examining all aspects including the history of marital disputes, the alleged affair, and the events leading up to the fatal confrontation. The case highlights the devastating potential of unresolved personal conflicts and the critical importance of community mediation and mental health support in preventing such violent outcomes.
