In a significant breakthrough, Chennai police have arrested three individuals involved in a series of mobile phone snatching incidents across North Chennai. The arrests were made on Friday, following a coordinated investigation into multiple complaints from residents in the area.

The suspects, identified as Tamilselvan, Vinoth, and Mohammed Sheriff, all residents of Old Washermenpet, were taken into custody after police tracked their movements. During the operation, authorities recovered five mobile phones and a stolen two-wheeler that was allegedly used in the commission of these crimes.
The investigation was initiated based on a complaint filed by Seeman of Manali Mathur, who reported that his phone was snatched while he was waiting at the Madhavaram roundabout on January 27. This incident served as a crucial lead for the police team, enabling them to identify and apprehend the accused.
Modus Operandi and Criminal History
During interrogation, the trio confessed to their involvement in the snatching spree. They revealed that they had stolen the two-wheeler from Sevvapet and used it to target unsuspecting individuals in various neighborhoods, including Madhavaram, MKB Nagar, Puzhal, and Vyasarpadi.
Further investigation uncovered the extensive criminal records of the accused. Mohammed Sheriff has nine cases registered against him, indicating a pattern of repeated offenses. Tamilselvan has five cases to his name, while Vinoth has two cases, highlighting their involvement in previous criminal activities.
