Tragic Suicide of Chennai IT Professional Following Marital Discord

A 30-year-old woman employed in the information technology sector died by suicide at her residence in West Tambaram, Chennai, on Tuesday morning. The victim, identified as Abinaya, worked for an IT firm located in Siruseri.

Background of the Marriage

Abinaya had entered into matrimony with Arun Kumar, who serves as an assistant medical officer at the ESI Hospital in Kodambakkam. Their wedding took place on November 30 of the previous year. The union was an arranged marriage, facilitated by their respective parents.

Escalating Tensions and Suspicious

According to police reports, the couple experienced frequent and intense quarrels. The primary source of conflict stemmed from mutual suspicions of infidelity, with both partners doubting each other's fidelity. These allegations created a hostile and stressful domestic environment.

The situation reached a critical point in the early hours of February 14. At approximately 12:30 AM, Arun Kumar observed Abinaya actively engaged with her mobile phone. He confronted her, voicing his suspicions, which ignited a heated argument between the two.

Discovery of the Tragedy

On Tuesday morning, Arun Kumar departed for his workplace as usual. Later, he contacted his father, Shanmuganathan, and requested him to check on Abinaya at their home. When Shanmuganathan arrived at the residence, he made the harrowing discovery of Abinaya's body. She was found hanging.

Police Investigation and Legal Proceedings

The authorities were immediately notified. Abinaya's body was subsequently transferred to the Tambaram Government Hospital for a comprehensive postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

In the aftermath, Abinaya's mother formally lodged a complaint with the police, expressing deep suspicion and concern regarding the circumstances surrounding her daughter's death. Based on this complaint, the police have officially registered a case and initiated a thorough investigation into the incident.
