CISF stops knife attack at Bengaluru airport

Midnight Terror at Bengaluru Airport

A potentially deadly situation was averted at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport when a taxi driver armed with a long knife attempted to attack two other drivers in the VVIP parking area. The incident occurred around 11:56 pm on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, November 16-17, 2025, sending shockwaves through the airport premises.

Swift Action Prevents Tragedy

According to airport police, the accused Suhail Ahmed Pyarejaan, a 36-year-old resident of Jayanagar in Bengaluru, was seen chasing two individuals - identified as Jagadeesh J R and Renu Kumar - with a long metal knife. The dramatic scene unfolded in the Terminal-1 arrival area's VVIP parking section, one of the most secure zones at the airport.

Eyewitness accounts and video footage show Pyarejaan aggressively pursuing the two men across the airport premises before Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel intervened decisively. The quick response by ASI/Executive Sunil Kumar and his team ensured the attacker was overpowered and the weapon was recovered before any harm could come to passengers or airport staff.

Motive and Aftermath

Preliminary investigations reveal that the attack was allegedly in retaliation to a previous assault. Police officials stated that Pyarejaan claimed the two men had assaulted him earlier, prompting his violent response at the airport.

Following the immediate intervention, the CISF personnel conducted initial interrogation before handing over the accused to the airport police for further legal action. The entire incident was brought under control within minutes, thanks to the alertness of the security forces deployed at the facility.

The CISF took to social media platform X to confirm the incident, stating: "Timely intervention by CISF, averted a major crime at Bengaluru Airport. Around midnight on 16 Nov, a man armed with a long metal knife charged toward two taxi drivers at the T1 Arrival area. ASI/Exe Sunil Kumar & team acted swiftly, overpowered the attacker and recovered the knife—preventing any harm to passengers or staff."

The security force emphasized their continued commitment to safeguarding passengers, airport personnel, and critical aviation infrastructure. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the constant vigilance required at major transportation hubs and the crucial role played by security personnel in maintaining public safety.
