Acting on specific intelligence regarding illicit drug sales, officers from the Madukkarai police station conducted a targeted search in the JJ Nagar area. During this operation, they detained the three suspects while they were actively engaged in selling prescription painkiller tablets to students seeking to get high.

The police confiscated substantial evidence from the arrested individuals:

  • 100 grams of ganja (marijuana)
  • 100 prescription painkiller tablets
  • A two-wheeler vehicle used for transporting and distributing the drugs

A senior police official involved in the case stated, "Based on a credible tip about drug trafficking activities, our team executed a precise operation at JJ Nagar in Madukkarai. We caught the three accused red-handed while they were peddling prescription medications to college students for recreational purposes. Our search also revealed they were in possession of a quantity of ganja."

Identities of the Accused and Legal Action

The arrested individuals have been identified as:

  1. S Ebinezar, aged 24, from Sugunapuram near Kuniyamuthur
  2. K Ranjith Kumar, aged 25, also from Sugunapuram near Kuniyamuthur
  3. P Hari Prasath, aged 21, from BK Pudur

Authorities have registered a case against the trio under the stringent provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Following their arrest, all three have been remanded to judicial custody and are currently lodged in jail as the investigation progresses.
