A police constable in Uttar Pradesh attacked his wife and their three-year-old daughter with an axe after a heated argument. The horrific incident occurred in Banda district. The young child died from her injuries. The wife remains in critical condition.
Constable Flees Scene After Brutal Attack
After the attack, the accused constable left his bleeding wife and daughter at home. He fled the scene. Police later found his mobile phone near a river about 400 meters from the house. This discovery led investigators to suspect he may have jumped into the river.
Police revealed the sequence of events. The constable, identified as Gaurav Kumar Yadav, took his family to a fair at Marka on Makar Sankranti. They returned home late on Wednesday night. An argument erupted between the couple over an undisclosed issue.
Neighbors Hear Screams, Find Victims in Pool of Blood
The dispute escalated violently. Hearing screams, neighbors rushed to the house. They found the mother and daughter lying in a pool of blood. Both victims had suffered severe axe wounds.
Neighbors immediately took them to a nearby hospital. Doctors declared the three-year-old girl, Pari, dead on arrival. They referred the critically injured wife, Shivani, to a hospital in Kanpur for advanced treatment.
Constable's Background and Posting Details
Constable Gaurav Kumar Yadav is 35 years old. He originally hails from Farrukhabad. For the past one and a half years, he has been posted at the Marka police station in Banda district.
Yadav served as a driver with UP 112. He lived in a rented house located just 250 meters away from the police station. He shared the home with his 32-year-old wife, Shivani, and their only daughter, Pari.
DSP Saurabh Singh confirmed the motive. He stated the attack resulted from a severe family discord. The constable allegedly lost his temper during the argument. He then grabbed an axe kept in the house and launched a frenzied attack on his own family.
The investigation continues as police search for the absconding constable. Authorities are exploring all possibilities, including the theory of him jumping into the river.
