Dehradun Man Arrested for Lewd Behavior at Government Primary School
A 27-year-old man from Dehradun's Doiwala area has been arrested by local police for allegedly making lewd comments at girl students of a government primary school and assaulting teachers who objected to his inappropriate behavior. The incident, which occurred during the morning assembly on Thursday, has raised serious concerns about school safety and student protection in the region.
Details of the Disturbing Incident
According to Doiwala police station SHO Pradeep Rana, the accused, identified as Mohammed Sarfaraz, entered the school premises during the morning assembly and began passing lewd comments at the female students gathered there. When the school principal confronted him about his unacceptable behavior, Sarfaraz reportedly assaulted her. As other teachers present tried to intervene and protect their colleagues, the accused turned violent and assaulted them as well.
SHO Rana stated, "As per the principal's complaint, Mohammed Sarfaraz entered the school on Thursday during the morning assembly and started passing lewd comments at the girls assembled there. When the principal confronted him, he assaulted her. When other teachers present tried to intervene, he assaulted them as well."
Pattern of Harassment and Property Damage
Police investigations revealed that this was not an isolated incident. Sarfaraz, who lives in close proximity to the school, had allegedly been passing similar inappropriate comments at the schoolgirls on previous occasions as well. During Thursday's incident, the accused also damaged some school furniture before fleeing the spot after issuing threats to both students and staff members.
The police official added, "Sarfaraz, who lives near the school, had often passed such comments at the schoolgirls earlier too."
Swift Police Action and Legal Proceedings
Taking the principal's complaint seriously, Doiwala police immediately registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A thorough investigation was launched, leading to Sarfaraz's prompt arrest. The accused was subsequently produced before a local court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
SHO Rana confirmed, "Taking the complaint seriously, a case was registered under relevant BNS sections. A probe was launched and Sarfaraz was arrested. He was produced before a local court, which later sent him to jail."
