Delhi Police Arrests Accused in Northeast Delhi Cafe Shooting Case
Days after a shocking shooting incident inside a cafe in northeast Delhi, police have successfully apprehended the prime accused in the case. The arrested individual has been identified as 23-year-old Mohammad Moin Qureshi, who was wanted for the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Faizan.
Details of the Kabir Nagar Cafe Shooting
The tragic incident occurred on January 23 at a cafe located in Kabir Nagar, where Qureshi allegedly fired multiple rounds at Faizan in the presence of several witnesses. According to police statements, the shooting resulted in Faizan's death at the scene, creating panic among cafe patrons and local residents.
Investigators revealed that Qureshi later uploaded a video on social media platforms where he reportedly admitted to committing the act. This digital evidence, combined with CCTV footage from the cafe and surrounding areas, helped police establish Qureshi's identity and connection to the crime.
Police Operation and Dramatic Arrest
Following intensive investigation, Delhi Police received crucial intelligence about Qureshi's movements in the trans-Yamuna area. Information suggested that Qureshi planned to collect money near Dheerpur ITI in Timarpur to facilitate his escape from Delhi.
A specialized team from the special cell set up a carefully planned trap at the location. When Qureshi arrived riding a black motorcycle, police officers immediately asked him to surrender. Instead of complying, Qureshi allegedly opened fire at the police team, escalating the situation dramatically.
After issuing a second warning that went unheeded, police officers retaliated in self-defence, resulting in Qureshi sustaining an injury to his left leg. The accused was subsequently overpowered by the police team and taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Investigation Progress and Legal Proceedings
Police officials have confirmed that the investigation into the cafe shooting case is progressing systematically. The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in what had become a high-profile case in the capital city. Authorities are now examining all evidence collected, including the social media video and CCTV footage, to build a comprehensive case against the accused.
The incident has highlighted concerns about public safety in commercial establishments and the challenges law enforcement faces in dealing with violent crimes in urban areas. Police have assured the public that they are taking all necessary measures to ensure such incidents are prevented in the future.
