In a significant breakthrough, the Delhi Police have successfully solved a distressing burglary case and recovered the lifelong savings of a senior citizen woman, valued at approximately Rs 32 lakh. The police arrested three individuals in connection with the crime that took place in South Delhi's Ambedkar Nagar.
Swift Action After the New Year's Day Burglary
The incident came to light on January 1, when the elderly complainant returned to her home in the morning to discover a harrowing scene. She found the main gate's handle broken and her household articles thoroughly ransacked. The most devastating loss was her precious gold and silver jewellery, along with a significant amount of cash, which law enforcement officials described as her lifelong savings.
A case was immediately registered, prompting a swift investigation by the Delhi Police. The team meticulously analysed CCTV footage from the vicinity, which revealed three masked suspects entering the house around 3 am. This visual evidence became the cornerstone of the probe.
Technical Surveillance Leads to Arrests
Leveraging a combination of technical surveillance and local intelligence, the police were able to identify the accused. The suspects were subsequently tracked down and apprehended on Saturday from the Nala Road area in Pushp Vihar, Saket.
At the time of their arrest, the trio was riding a stolen scooter and were in possession of the stolen property. The police have identified the arrested individuals as Ishaq Kalua (24), Pawan (26), and Bharat (23). According to the police, Pawan and Bharat are active habitual offenders in the area.
Complete Recovery of Stolen Property
In a commendable outcome for the victim, the police managed to recover the entire stolen property. The haul included:
- Approximately 228.83 grams of gold jewellery
- About 708 grams of silver articles
- Cash amounting to Rs 1.15 lakh
- The stolen scooter used by the accused
The total estimated value of the recovered items is a substantial Rs 32 lakh. This successful recovery has prevented a catastrophic financial and emotional loss for the senior citizen.
The investigation has also revealed that the accused are suspected to be involved in another theft case registered at the Malviya Nagar police station. The Delhi Police have stated that further investigation into their activities is currently underway.
