Delhi Police SWAT Commando Succumbs to Injuries After Alleged Husband Attack

In a tragic incident that has shocked the law enforcement community, a 24-year-old SWAT commando of Delhi Police's special cell, Kajal Chaudhary, succumbed to her injuries at a hospital in Ghaziabad on Tuesday. The young officer passed away five days after she was allegedly attacked by her husband, Ankur, with a dumbbell in their Mohan Garden residence.

Sequence of Events Leading to the Fatal Assault

According to police reports, the couple, Kajal and Ankur, who works as a clerk in the Ministry of Defence, engaged in a heated argument over household finances. During this confrontation, Kajal reportedly called her brother, Nikhil, who serves as a constable posted at Parliament Street police station, seeking immediate assistance.

While still on the phone with her brother, Ankur allegedly struck Kajal on the head with a dumbbell. Minutes after the violent attack, Ankur reportedly called Nikhil to inform him about what had transpired.

Medical Response and Tragic Outcome

Ankur initially took Kajal to a local hospital for treatment. However, due to the severity of her injuries, her family later transferred her to a hospital in Ghaziabad for more specialized medical care. Despite receiving intensive treatment and medical attention, Kajal's condition deteriorated, and she ultimately passed away on Tuesday. Her post-mortem examination was conducted on the same day.

Background of the Couple's Disputes

Police investigations have revealed that the couple may have had ongoing disputes concerning loans and household expenses. A Delhi Police officer provided additional details, stating, "On January 22, Ankur banged Kajal's head against the door frame before attacking her with the dumbbell." This information suggests a pattern of escalating violence leading to the fatal incident.

Legal Proceedings and Community Response

Ankur was arrested hours after the assault based on a formal complaint filed by Nikhil. The case, which was initially registered under attempted murder charges, will now be upgraded to murder charges following Kajal's tragic death.

The community in Ganaur, where Kajal hailed from, is in deep mourning for the young commando whose promising life and career have been brutally cut short. The incident has highlighted serious concerns about domestic violence even within families connected to law enforcement.

This tragic case underscores the urgent need for stronger domestic violence prevention measures and support systems for victims, regardless of their professional backgrounds or affiliations.
