The trial in the rape and murder of a three-year-old girl from Nasrapur continued on Friday, with the special court officially recording multiple forensic documents, including DNA analysis, viscera examination reports, and the testing results of seized articles.
In-Camera Proceedings
The proceedings were conducted in camera before special judge S.R. Salunkhe. The accused, 65-year-old Bhimrao Kamble, was produced via video conferencing, with legal aid defence counsel Himmatrao Suryawanshi in attendance.
Witness Examination and Forensic Records
During the day's hearing, five prosecution witnesses were examined. The court also took on record correspondence with the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Pune, acknowledgments of samples sent for analysis, and formal DNA profile opinions.
Special public prosecutor Ajay Misar said the DNA analysis strongly supports the prosecution’s case. According to Misar, forensic examination detected skin belonging to the accused in material recovered from beneath the victim’s fingernails, suggesting a struggle, while the accused’s DNA profile matched samples analysed by the laboratory.
Misar further detailed that forensic findings indicated the presence of the accused’s biological material on the victim’s hands and clothing. Conversely, the victim’s blood was detected on clothes allegedly linked to the accused.
Adjournment and Progress
The matter has been adjourned for further evidence after being marked part-heard. Prosecutor Misar noted that the prosecution has examined 35 witnesses to date. To ensure a swift resolution, the trial is being conducted on a day-to-day basis before the special court.
