Dombivli Housing Society Fire Investigation Uncovers Deliberate Arson Plot
In a significant development regarding the devastating fire incident at a housing society in Dombivli, police investigations have conclusively determined that the blaze was intentionally set rather than accidental. The fire, which erupted in the basement parking area of Ravikiran Society in Sagaon, resulted in five individuals sustaining serious injuries and completely destroyed 29 two-wheelers.
CCTV Footage Provides Crucial Evidence in Arson Case
Officials from the Manpada police station revealed that CCTV footage from the society's parking area played a pivotal role in unraveling the mystery. "The surveillance video clearly captured a young man throwing an object into a garbage bin. Within moments, a fire ignited and rapidly spread throughout the parking area," stated a senior investigating officer.
Resident Arrested and Remanded to Police Custody
Based on this compelling visual evidence, authorities arrested Lavesh Parte, a resident of the building. He was subsequently presented before the Kalyan court, which ordered him remanded to two days of police custody for further interrogation and evidence collection.
Police Probe Focuses on Motive and Incendiary Object
Suhas Hemade, Assistant Commissioner of Police for the Dombivli division, elaborated on the ongoing investigation. "Our investigative team is currently examining what specific object the accused allegedly brought from his residence and disposed of in the bin, which ultimately triggered the catastrophic blaze. Additionally, we are thoroughly investigating the potential motive behind this deliberate act," Hemade explained.
Early Morning Incident Causes Panic and Critical Injuries
The fire incident occurred around 4:15 AM in the parking premises of Raj Apartment within the Ravikiran Society complex. Thick, toxic smoke quickly permeated the building, creating widespread panic among residents who were awakened by the emergency. Among the five injured individuals, one woman remains in critical condition at a local medical facility, highlighting the severe consequences of the arson attack.
The investigation continues as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding this deliberate fire, which has raised serious safety concerns within the residential community.
