US-Based Techie Creates Naked Scene at Historic Bangalore Club

In a shocking incident that unfolded over 15 hours, a 55-year-old US-based techie created a major disturbance at the iconic Bangalore Club in Bengaluru. The man, identified as Rajesh Anant, stood stark naked at the Lavelle Road entrance to the 158-year-old club on Monday afternoon, attempting to block a car and engaging in physical altercations with security personnel and police officers.

Family Connections and Initial Incident

Rajesh Anant, who is settled in the United States with his wife and children, was visiting Bengaluru to see his father, A Anantharaman. His father happens to be a life member of the prestigious Bangalore Club, with the family residing in an apartment off St Mark's Road. The trouble began on Sunday evening when what should have been a peaceful dinner between father and son took an unexpected turn.

After returning home from the club, Rajesh realized he had forgotten his mobile phone at the establishment. He immediately returned to retrieve it, but security personnel stopped him at the gate since he was not accompanied by a member, as per club rules. Allegedly under the influence of alcohol at this point, Rajesh got into heated arguments with club officials. "A little later, he was seen trying to climb the compound. However, he did not scale it," revealed an investigating officer familiar with the case.

Escalation and Naked Confrontation

The situation deteriorated significantly by Monday afternoon when Rajesh returned to the club and began shouting at security personnel who stopped him for the second time. As tensions mounted, police were summoned to the scene. By the time authorities arrived, Rajesh had removed all his clothing and was behaving abnormally without any garments.

The drama intensified when Rajesh attempted to stop a red car exiting the club premises. When asked to move aside, one of the security personnel reportedly struck Rajesh on his bare back with a stick. Undeterred, Rajesh stood his ground until the driver of the car accelerated away, throwing Rajesh onto the road and causing injuries.

Police Intervention and Aftermath

"Rajesh, in the buff, fought with everyone from the club and then with police. Club officials called his father, who rushed to the spot. Police and others forced Rajesh to wear clothes and he was sent back," explained a senior police officer involved in the incident.

In a surprising turn of events, Rajesh filed a formal complaint with the Cubbon Park police station against both the club security guard and the driver of the car. In his complaint, he confessed to being in an inebriated condition during the incident and acknowledged sustaining injuries during the altercation. Meanwhile, police filed a separate complaint against Rajesh for creating a public nuisance and obstructing officers on duty.

Club's Response and Consequences

The Bangalore Club responded swiftly to the incident, issuing a notice that detailed disciplinary actions. The club handed Anantharaman, Rajesh's father and a life member, a one-month suspension effective February 2. Furthermore, the club declared Rajesh persona non grata, permanently barring him from entering the club premises due to what they described as his "ungentlemanly" behavior.

This incident highlights the strict membership protocols maintained by historic social clubs in Bengaluru while raising questions about alcohol-induced public disturbances in the city's upscale neighborhoods. The 158-year-old Bangalore Club, known for its exclusivity and heritage, found itself at the center of an unprecedented security challenge that required police intervention and resulted in formal complaints from both parties involved.
