Electrician Fatally Shot at Gurgaon Wedding Over LED Light Dispute

In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through the community, a 23-year-old electrician was shot dead at a wedding venue in Pataudi, Gurgaon, on Thursday night. The tragedy unfolded after a single LED light malfunctioned, sparking a violent confrontation that ended in murder.

Details of the Fatal Altercation

According to police reports, the groom, identified as Amandeep, became enraged when he noticed an imperfection in the lighting arrangements managed by Barkat, the electrician. A heated argument quickly escalated, with Amandeep allegedly pulling out a gun and firing at Barkat, though the initial shot missed its target.

In a panic, Barkat fled the scene along with his co-workers, Mustafa and Yusuf. However, as they ran, another bullet—reportedly fired by an associate of Amandeep—struck Barkat from behind, hitting him in the waist. He collapsed immediately and was rushed to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police Investigation and Arrests

The Pataudi police station received information about the firing late Thursday night and swiftly dispatched a team to Ransika village. At the scene, bloodstains were found, and a crime team was called to collect evidence. A case has been registered under multiple sections, including:

  • Section 103(1) for murder
  • Section 351(3) for criminal intimidation
  • Section 3(5) for acts done by multiple persons under the BNS
  • Relevant sections of the Arms Act

The FIR names Amandeep and his associate Sahil as accused, but notably, it does not include Harsh, a 21-year-old who was later arrested. During questioning, Harsh claimed he "accidentally fired" a bullet from his uncle's licensed weapon, which he said was kept on a table during the ceremony. Police are continuing their investigation into this claim.

Victim's Background and Family's Anguish

Barkat, a resident of Mathura, was a father to three young children and had been married since 2019. He traveled to Gurgaon twice a year during the wedding season to work as an electrician, supporting his family after losing his parents. His brother-in-law, Arshad, expressed the family's devastation, stating, "The family is ruined. We want justice for Barkat."

Barkat's cousin, Tahir, added, "There can be an electrical glitch anytime, anywhere, but they killed him mercilessly without thinking of his family." The complaint was filed by Hashim Khan, Barkat's wife's uncle, detailing how the LED light malfunctioned at 9:27 PM, leading to abuse and assault by Amandeep and his associates before the fatal shooting.

Ongoing Legal Proceedings

Police have taken Harsh into custody, while efforts are underway to apprehend Amandeep and Sahil. The body has been handed over to the family after an autopsy, and the investigation remains active as authorities piece together the events of that tragic night. This incident highlights the severe consequences of disputes escalating into violence, leaving a community in mourning and a family seeking closure.
