Baghpat Father Arrested for Heinous Crime Against 11-Year-Old Daughter

A shocking case of familial sexual violence has emerged from Baghpat district, where a 45-year-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping his own 11-year-old daughter at knifepoint. The victim, a Class 6 student, endured this horrific assault in their village home, with medical examination confirming the sexual abuse.

Traumatized Girl Courageously Reports Incident After Counselling

Baghpat SP Suraj Rai described how the young victim arrived at the police station visibly traumatized and initially unable to speak. A compassionate woman constable provided patient counselling, eventually helping the child gather the courage to narrate her ordeal. The girl revealed that her father had threatened to kill her while sexually assaulting her with a knife, creating an atmosphere of terror that left her physically and emotionally scarred.

Timeline of the Horrific Incident

The assault occurred on Tuesday when the girl's mother had stepped out to attend a neighborhood wedding function, leaving the child alone at home. Police reports indicate that:

  • The accused returned home in an intoxicated state
  • He threatened the girl with a knife before committing the rape
  • He physically assaulted her and warned of slitting her throat
  • Medical examination revealed bite marks and injuries across her body

SP Rai noted that the child initially remained silent about the assault but later broke down before her mother, revealing the extent of her suffering.

Overcoming Social Stigma to Seek Justice

The path to justice faced significant obstacles due to social pressures. The girl's mother initially refused to approach police, fearing social stigma and community backlash. This hesitation highlights the complex challenges victims face in reporting such crimes within family structures.

The determined child then contacted her uncle in Delhi, who immediately took action. After learning about the incident, the uncle approached authorities and filed a formal complaint, demonstrating how external family support can be crucial in such situations.

Legal Action and Ongoing Support

SHO Atar Singh confirmed that police have registered a comprehensive First Information Report under multiple sections:

  1. BNS 65(2) for rape
  2. Section 351 for criminal intimidation
  3. Section 5(n)(m) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act
  4. Relevant sections of the Arms Act

Authorities arrested the accused from his residence and recovered the knife used in the crime. In a significant move toward rehabilitation, a team from Mission Shakti will provide psychological counselling to help the child cope with the trauma, addressing the long-term emotional impact of such violations.

This case underscores the urgent need for stronger child protection mechanisms and community awareness about reporting sexual violence, particularly within family settings where victims often face additional barriers to seeking justice.
