Five Killed in Tragic Highway Accident Near Jaipur After Driver Falls Asleep
In a devastating early morning incident, five individuals lost their lives in a horrific car crash on National Highway-52 near Jaipur. The accident occurred when the driver of their vehicle apparently dozed off, leading to a catastrophic rear-end collision with a moving truck.

The tragedy unfolded near the Tigariya Mod bypass in Chaksu, approximately 32 kilometers from Jaipur, in the early hours of Saturday. According to police reports, the driver of the car fell asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to slam into the back of a truck. The impact was so severe that it tore through the car's structure, trapping all five occupants inside.
Police and local villagers rushed to the scene in a desperate attempt to rescue the victims, but their efforts proved futile. The damage was too extensive, and the occupants could not be saved. Cranes had to be brought in later to retrieve the bodies and clear the wreckage from the busy highway.
Victims and Aftermath
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Jaipur South) Rajarshi Raj Varma confirmed that all five victims were taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival. The deceased have been identified as Reshma Shrivastava (54), Rajak Rahul (27), Pisyuh Rai (26), Anurag Rajak (25), and Shanu Sukarwar (25), all residents of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. Police stated that Sukarwar was driving the ill-fated car at the time of the accident.
The group was on a religious tour, having visited the Mahakal temple in Ujjain on Friday, and was en route to Khatu Shyam Ji near Reengas in Sikar district when the crash occurred. The high-speed collision caused significant traffic congestion on NH-52, with delays lasting several hours before police managed to restore normal movement.
Investigation and Legal Actions
Chaksu police station SHO Manohar Lal reported that teams from the local police station and the accident police station responded promptly to the scene. The driver of the truck involved in the accident has been detained for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police are diligently examining the circumstances that led to the collision, including whether factors like reckless driving played a role. The bodies of the deceased have been transferred to the mortuary at Chaksu sub-district hospital for post-mortem examinations. Authorities have also informed the families of the victims about the tragic incident.
