A Fox 11 news crew encountered intense and aggressive harassment from anti-ICE protesters outside the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles on Saturday. The incident, which has drawn significant attention, involved demonstrators surrounding the team, shouting obscenities, and attempting to sabotage their broadcasting equipment.
Chaotic Scene Captured on Social Media
Videos circulating on social media platforms show a masked mob encircling the female reporter and cameraman as they attempted to cover the ongoing protests. The footage reveals a tense atmosphere, with some agitators shoving cell phone cameras directly into the reporter’s face while yelling provocative questions like, “Why does Fox News get special access?” In a particularly disruptive move, protesters attempted to cut the camera cables, potentially halting the live broadcast.
At one point, the situation escalated further when a protester sprayed graffiti on the news van and smashed its windows. Others actively blocked the crew from leaving the area, creating a dangerous and confined environment for the journalists.

Despite the surrounding chaos, the two-member Fox 11 team remained remarkably composed. They strategically retreated behind police barricades as officers, equipped with BB guns, helmets, and batons, closely monitored the volatile situation. This incident is not isolated. It follows a similar confrontation on Friday night involving CNN correspondent Veronica Miracle, who was caught in the middle of anti-ICE protests outside the Edward R. Roybal Federal Building in downtown Los Angeles. During that event, federal agents deployed pepper balls to disperse demonstrators, causing Miracle to cough and choke live on air.
These protests are part of a broader nationwide “ICE Out” shutdown movement, which opposes immigration enforcement actions by the Department of Homeland Security. Public anger has intensified following recent incidents, including the January 24 killing of Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse, during a Minneapolis protest. Although officials claimed Pretti posed a threat, video footage suggested he was disarmed before being shot.
Earlier this month, Renee Good, a mother of three, was also killed during a separate federal enforcement operation. Adding to the tension, ICE recorded 32 deaths in custody in 2025, marking its deadliest year in two decades. These statistics have fueled widespread demonstrations across the country, calling for accountability and reform within the agency.
