Vadodara Crime Branch Nabs Fugitive Accused of Multiple Offenses Including Domestic Violence
The Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) in Vadodara made a significant arrest on Tuesday, apprehending a man wanted for allegedly stabbing his wife in Ahmedabad and involved in a series of chain-snatching incidents. The accused, identified as 25-year-old Faizan Sheikh, was taken into custody following a tip-off about suspicious activity in the Bhutadizampa area.
Police Operation Leads to Arrest and Recovery of Stolen Items
Acting on specific intelligence, a police team intercepted Sheikh while he was riding a two-wheeler through the neighborhood. When officers requested documentation for the vehicle, he failed to provide satisfactory answers, raising immediate suspicion. During a subsequent search, authorities recovered a broken gold chain from his possession, linking him to recent thefts in the region.
During interrogation, Sheikh confessed to multiple criminal activities. He admitted to stealing the two-wheeler approximately two weeks prior and using it the very next day to snatch a gold chain from a woman in the Akota area of Vadodara. This revelation connected him to a pattern of chain-snatching that has concerned local residents.
Violent Domestic Incident and Extensive Criminal History Uncovered
Further investigation revealed the more serious allegation against Sheikh. Police discovered that he had allegedly stabbed his wife following a domestic dispute in Ahmedabad about a week before his arrest. An offense had already been registered against him at the Vejalpur police station in Ahmedabad, and he had been evading authorities since the incident.
Police officials disclosed that Sheikh has an extensive criminal record with over 19 offenses registered against him across various jurisdictions. His criminal history includes charges of:
- Theft and chain-snatching
- Attempt to murder
- Extortion and other serious crimes
The arrest highlights the coordinated efforts between police units across different cities to track down fugitives with violent histories. The Vadodara DCB's prompt action based on community tips demonstrates how public cooperation can lead to the apprehension of dangerous individuals.
Authorities have emphasized that Sheikh's capture prevents potential further crimes and brings some measure of justice for his alleged victims, particularly his wife who survived the stabbing attack. The case continues to develop as police compile evidence from multiple jurisdictions to build a comprehensive case against the accused.
