Major Fire Erupts at Garment Factory in Ghaziabad's Tronica City
A significant fire incident occurred at a garment manufacturing unit in the Tronica City industrial area of Ghaziabad on Monday morning. The blaze, which started around 11:20 am, was successfully brought under control within approximately half an hour, and fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported in the event.
Swift Response by Fire Department
Upon receiving the alert, fire officials promptly dispatched three fire tenders from the nearby Tronica City (Loni) fire station, situated about 3 kilometers away from the site. As a precautionary measure, an additional fire tender was later sent from the Sahibabad fire station to assist in the operations.
Firefighters reached the location by 11:25 am and encountered heavy smoke emanating from the first floor of a three-storey factory building. The structure, spread over a 500 square meter plot, was identified as Manmanrk Apparels Pvt Ltd, a garment manufacturing company owned by local businessman Pankaj Sharma.
Cause and Firefighting Efforts
Initial investigations suggest that the fire was likely triggered by an electrical short circuit within the premises. Fire personnel immediately laid hose lines and initiated aggressive firefighting operations. Despite facing intense smoke and elevated temperatures, the team entered the first floor and tackled the blaze from two strategic directions to contain it effectively.
The fire was brought under control by around 11:50 am, after which the additional tender from Sahibabad was recalled. Officials noted that the factory lacked prescribed fire safety arrangements, raising concerns about compliance with safety regulations.
Post-Fire Operations and Safety Measures
Following the containment, firefighters removed smouldering cloth rolls from the factory and doused them thoroughly to prevent any risk of re-ignition. The operation concluded around 12:30 pm, with safety advisories being issued to the factory management to improve fire safety protocols. Police teams were present throughout the incident to ensure order and security.
Separate Fire Incident in Kaushambi
In a related development, a separate fire broke out around 11:15 am at flat number 1404 in Govardhan Apartment, located in the Kaushambi area. Two fire tenders from the Vaishali fire station, along with senior officials, rushed to the scene after flames engulfed the 14th-floor residence.
Firefighters stretched hose lines from the ground to the upper floor and safely removed two LPG cylinders from inside the flat, averting a potential explosion. The building's in-house fire safety system was also utilized during the response.
After nearly an hour of concerted efforts, the blaze was brought under control, preventing it from spreading to neighbouring flats. The flat owner, Ankita Jaiswal, suffered extensive property damage, with most household items destroyed. No casualties were reported in this incident as well.
These incidents highlight the critical importance of adhering to fire safety standards in both industrial and residential settings to prevent such emergencies and minimize damage.
