Ghaziabad Sisters' Suicide Probe Uncovers Complex Family History

The tragic suicide of three minor sisters who fell from the ninth floor of a Ghaziabad high-rise has taken a dramatic turn as police investigations reveal startling details about their family background. What initially appeared as a possible obsession with a Korean game has evolved into a probe examining financial ruin, multiple marriages, shifting statements, and a history shadowed by unexplained deaths.

Three Wives and Conflicting Timelines

Chetan Kumar, the father of the deceased girls, resides in Bharat City Society in Ghaziabad with his three wives: Sujata, Heena, and Tina. According to police statements, Chetan has children with all three women. With Sujata, he has a daughter and a mentally-challenged son. With her sister Heena, he has two daughters - these were the girls who allegedly jumped from the building. His third wife, Tina, who is just 22 years old, has a three-year-old daughter with him.

"She was a Muslim who agreed to convert to Hinduism for the marriage," said Atul Kumar Singh, ACP of Shalimar Garden. "The other two wives claim they consented to the third marriage, which took place in 2023."

However, police have identified significant discrepancies in Chetan's account of his marital timeline. He initially told investigators that he married Sujata in 2010 and Heena in 2013, claiming the second marriage occurred because Sujata was unable to conceive. This statement raised immediate questions since his eldest daughter with Sujata is 16 years old. Chetan had also previously claimed that Tina was not his wife but his sister-in-law.

Documentation Challenges and Unusual Living Arrangements

Police efforts to establish an accurate timeline have been hampered by documentation issues. "Both Sujata and Heena are uneducated. They cannot even recall their wedding dates and say they do not know anything about their official marriage documents," explained Singh.

Another peculiar detail that caught investigators' attention involves the family's living arrangements. Despite occupying a three-bedroom flat, the entire family slept together in a single room. When questioned about how no one noticed the three girls leaving the room late at night, police found nothing unusual in this pattern.

"It was part of their routine. They stayed awake till late, talked, played games and always stayed together. No one noticed anything suspicious that night," Singh stated.

Financial Collapse and Missing Evidence

The investigation has revealed that the girls had dropped out of school years ago following Chetan's financial collapse. Originally possessing two mobile phones, both devices are now missing. Police reports indicate that Chetan, burdened by substantial debt, sold one phone six months prior to the incident and the second just fifteen days before the tragedy.

"We are trying to track the two phones," confirmed Singh. "Once phones are sold, they are usually formatted. After formatting, the chances of recovering data are very low, but we are running the IMEI numbers."

Unexplained Past Death Resurfaces

As police delve deeper into Chetan's past, another disturbing incident has reemerged - a death previously dismissed as an accident. Vinod Kumar, the father of Sujata and Heena, recalled to the press an earlier family tragedy that occurred approximately six to seven years ago.

During the birthday celebration of Chetan's eldest daughter, one of Vinod's daughters visited Chetan's home where she allegedly slipped while removing clothes from a balcony and fell to her death from the third floor. The family never filed a police complaint regarding this incident. The deceased girl was approximately 16 years old at the time.

The police investigation continues to examine these multiple layers of complexity surrounding the family, seeking to understand what led to the tragic deaths of the three sisters while uncovering a web of financial struggles, marital complications, and unexplained past incidents.
