Missing Gorakhpur Woman's Body Discovered in Lake, Police Investigation Underway

The city of Gorakhpur was shaken on Wednesday afternoon when the body of a young woman, who had been reported missing for over a day, was found floating in Ramgarh Tal lake. The grim discovery was made around 1:30 PM by passers-by who immediately alerted the local authorities.

Swift Police Response and Body Retrieval

A police team promptly arrived at the scene and successfully retrieved the body from the water. The deceased was identified as Shraddha Tripathi, also known as Nishu, aged 23. She was the daughter of Sanjay Tripathi, a lekhpal, and resided in the Dibiya Dhobi Tola area under the jurisdiction of the Cantt police station.

Timeline of the Disappearance and Discovery

According to official police statements, Shraddha had left her home on Tuesday for unspecified work but failed to return. Her family grew increasingly concerned when repeated attempts to contact her via phone went unanswered. This led them to file a formal missing person's complaint at the Cantt police station on February 17.

The search came to a tragic end the following day when her body was spotted in the lake. Her father was present at the location and positively identified her, confirming the worst fears of her loved ones.

Police Preliminary Assessment and Ongoing Investigation

SP City Abhinav Tyagi addressed the media, stating that based on initial observations, the case appears to be one of suicide. However, he emphasized that the exact cause of death will only be determined conclusively after a thorough postmortem examination is conducted.

The investigation remains active as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to this unfortunate incident. The community is left mourning the loss of a young life, with many questions still unanswered pending further forensic and investigative reports.
