Gujarat DGP Stresses Human Intelligence After Delhi Blast

In response to the recent security alert following the Delhi blast, Gujarat Director General of Police (DGP) Vikas Sahay conducted an urgent video-conference meeting with senior police officers across the state on Wednesday. The high-level meeting focused on enhancing security measures and strengthening intelligence infrastructure throughout Gujarat.

Emergency Security Review

The meeting, held on November 13, 2025, came as a direct response to the security concerns raised by Monday's explosion in Delhi. DGP Vikas Sahay chaired the virtual conference that brought together top police officials from various districts to assess the current security situation and implement immediate measures.

According to official statements released by the DGP's office, the primary emphasis was on ensuring comprehensive citizen security. The discussions centered around strengthening the entire infrastructure of all field units, including critical specialized forces like the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).

Human Intelligence Emphasis

Sources revealed that DGP Sahay placed significant importance on human intelligence capabilities, stressing that this crucial aspect of policing should not be limited to specialized units alone. All police personnel across various ranks and departments were instructed to prioritize and develop human intelligence networks.

This approach marks a strategic shift toward creating a more robust and widespread intelligence-gathering mechanism that involves every level of the police force in Gujarat.

Performance Review and Monitoring Directives

During the comprehensive review, DGP Sahay examined the performance of Special Operations Groups (SOG) from all districts across Gujarat. The assessment aimed to identify strengths and areas requiring improvement in the state's specialized operational capabilities.

The police chief issued specific instructions regarding the maintenance of detailed registers tracking individuals with criminal histories. These registers will include:

  • Persons previously arrested for serious crimes related to terrorism activities
  • Individuals booked under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA)
  • Those charged under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Prevention Act (TADA)
  • Suspects involved in major crimes including drug trafficking, arms smuggling, and fake currency operations

Continuous monitoring of the whereabouts and activities of these individuals was mandated as part of the enhanced security protocol. The directive emphasizes proactive surveillance and intelligence-led policing to prevent potential security threats.

The meeting concluded with a reinforced commitment to public safety and a coordinated approach to security management across Gujarat's police infrastructure, ensuring preparedness in the wake of recent national security developments.
