Gujarat Officer Accuses Estranged Husband of Hiring Stalker to Intimidate Her

A 29-year-old Class-I officer, serving as a taluka development officer in North Gujarat, has made serious allegations against her estranged husband. She claims he hired a man to stalk her in Gandhinagar on Valentine's Day, in an apparent attempt to pressure her regarding pending domestic violence and divorce cases.

Background of Marital Discord and Legal Proceedings

According to the FIR filed with Sector 21 police on Saturday, the officer has been living separately for the past year at a relative's residence in Sector 22, Gandhinagar, following marital discord. She had already initiated domestic violence and divorce proceedings in a Gandhinagar court. The officer stated that she married a man from Banaskantha in 2016, when she was 19, in accordance with her family's wishes.

Soon after their wedding, she alleges she faced harassment and domestic violence, which led her to leave her husband's house. She filed a divorce petition in September 2025, which the court admitted in October 2025.

Incident of Stalking and Evidence Collection

On Friday morning around 8 am, a relative spotted a youth allegedly conducting surveillance outside the house in Shreyas Society and apprehended him. The officer informed police that the detained man admitted he was sent by her husband to monitor her movements. A black SUV without number plates and with tinted windows, in which another person was seated, reportedly fled the spot.

When confronted, the youth allegedly confessed to tracking her movements not only at her residence but also at her workplace. The officer checked his mobile phone and found WhatsApp messages purportedly from her husband. One message, sent at 8:33 am, read "Nikdi" (she has stepped out). She photographed this message as evidence.

Allegations of Intimidation and Police Action

The complainant alleged that the surveillance was intended to intimidate her and exert pressure in the ongoing legal disputes. She further claimed that the accused had repeatedly sent the youth to follow her for some time.

Sector 21 police have registered an offence of stalking and criminal intimidation against the husband and detained the youth. Officials stated that further investigation is underway to verify digital evidence and identify others involved in the case.
