A 10-year-old girl was left with grievous injuries after being struck and dragged by a speeding black Scorpio SUV in a narrow residential lane of Gurgaon's Adarsh Nagar, Sector 12, on Friday morning. The incident occurred as the child was walking to school, barely 200 metres from her home.
Details of the Tragic Morning Incident
The accident took place around 7:23 AM, when the Scorpio, allegedly driven at high speed inside the constricted lane, went out of control. It first hit the Class VI student of a private school, then dragged her along while also colliding with several motorcycles parked outside nearby houses. The driver immediately fled the scene with the vehicle, leaving the injured child behind.
Local residents quickly rushed to the girl's aid, providing initial assistance before alerting the police control room. She was subsequently taken to a private hospital for urgent medical treatment. Police confirmed that the child sustained severe head injuries and remains under intensive care.
Police Investigation and Legal Action
An FIR has been registered at the Sector-14 police station against the unidentified Scorpio driver. The complaint, filed by the girl's family, invokes sections 281 (rash driving) and 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Investigators have obtained CCTV footage that captured the entire sequence of the accident. This visual evidence is now central to the police probe, as authorities work to identify the vehicle's registration number and locate the absconding driver. Efforts are underway to make an arrest at the earliest possible moment.
