Security Guard Succumbs to Injuries in Gurgaon Hit-and-Run Incident
A tragic hit-and-run incident in Gurgaon has claimed the life of a 48-year-old security guard, highlighting ongoing road safety concerns in the city. Dilip Kumar, originally from Pipra village in Bihar's Lakhisarai district, passed away on February 17, five days after being struck by an unidentified vehicle near Dadi Sati Chowk in Sector 86.
Details of the Fatal Accident
According to a formal complaint filed by his son Suraj Kumar at the Kherki Daula police station, the accident occurred around 9:50 PM on February 12. Dilip Kumar was returning home from his job at a city hotel when the speeding vehicle hit him and fled the scene without stopping.
Suraj Kumar reported that he was notified about his father's injury and rushed to the location. Eyewitnesses at the scene informed him that an unknown vehicle traveling at high speed had struck his father before quickly disappearing into the night.
Medical Treatment and Police Investigation
The victim was initially transported to the government hospital in Sector 10 for emergency care. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was subsequently referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi for specialized treatment. Later, he was admitted to ESI Hospital in Faridabad for further medical attention, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries on February 17.
Police authorities confirmed they received information about the accident from GH Sector 10 on February 13. The investigating officer collected the medico-legal report and attempted to obtain a statement from the victim, but by that time, Dilip Kumar had already been transferred to Delhi for treatment. At ESI Hospital, medical professionals declared him unfit to provide any statement regarding the incident.
"Following the formal complaint submitted by the victim's son, an FIR was registered at Kherki Daula police station under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita," stated an official. "The charges include Section 281 for rash driving, Section 125(a) for acts endangering life or personal safety of others, and Section 106 for causing death by negligence."
Ongoing Investigation Efforts
Police investigators are actively working to identify the vehicle involved in this tragic incident. Their current strategy involves:
- Reviewing and analyzing CCTV footage from cameras installed in nearby areas
- Following up on local leads and gathering information from the community
- Examining potential witness accounts to reconstruct the events of that evening
Dilip Kumar, who lived with his family in rented accommodation in Sector 86's Badha village, was the primary breadwinner for his household. His sudden death has left his family devastated and seeking justice for the loss of their loved one.
