Woman Fatally Shot in Hajipur Home, Police Investigate Neighbour Dispute Allegations
A tragic incident unfolded in the Chowhatta Chowk area of Hajipur under the Town police station in Vaishali district on Thursday night, resulting in the death of a 22-year-old woman. The victim, identified as Gudiya Devi, wife of Arjun Paswan, was shot dead at her residence under mysterious circumstances that have prompted a thorough police investigation.
Details of the Fatal Incident
According to preliminary reports from law enforcement authorities, the incident occurred when Gudiya Devi went outside her home to fetch water from a handpump. She suddenly collapsed and was discovered with a bullet injury to her head. Family members rushed her to a nearby medical facility, but she succumbed to her injuries while en route to the hospital.
Arjun Paswan, the victim's husband who works as a driver for a judge in the Hajipur ADJ-4 court, provided a harrowing account of the events. "I returned home from a friend's place after attending a funeral feast around 11:15 pm," he stated. "Since I hadn't eaten there, I asked my wife to bring me some food. While she was fetching water, she suddenly fell. When we took her upstairs, we noticed blood coming from her head and nose due to a bullet injury. We immediately took her to the hospital, but she died on the way."
Family Allegations and Police Response
The grieving family has pointed fingers at their neighbours, alleging that the shooting resulted from an ongoing dispute. Arjun Paswan claimed that their neighbours had threatened him just two days before the fatal incident, suggesting a possible motive behind the tragedy.
Confirming the developments, Sadar SDPO-1 Subodh Kumar provided official details about the police response. "We are thoroughly investigating this matter," he stated. "The body has been handed over to the family after completion of the post-mortem examination. Based on the family's statement, we have registered an FIR against four persons, and intensive raids are currently underway to apprehend the accused individuals."
Suspicious Elements and Ongoing Investigation
The SDPO revealed that certain aspects of the case appear suspicious and require deeper examination. "We have discovered bloodstains on a glass inside the house, which adds another dimension to our investigation," he explained. "Our investigative team is pursuing multiple angles, including questioning family members and examining all available evidence to establish the complete sequence of events."
Police authorities have already detained two individuals for questioning as part of their preliminary investigation. The law enforcement team is working diligently to piece together the circumstances that led to this tragic loss of life in the Chowhatta Chowk locality.
