Hoax Bomb Threats Trigger Panic and Evacuations Across Gujarat Judicial Complexes
Panic and disruption swept through key administrative and judicial centers in Gujarat on Monday morning as multiple bomb threat emails forced emergency evacuations at district courts and collectorates in Rajkot and Gir-Somnath districts. The threats, which later proved to be hoax communications, created significant security alerts and operational interruptions across these government facilities.
Multiple Facilities Targeted in Coordinated Email Threats
The security scare began when the Rajkot District and Sessions Court complex, the Rajkot District Collectorate, and the Gir-Somnath District Court in Veraval all received threatening emails claiming explosive devices had been planted within their premises. Following established security protocols, authorities immediately ordered complete evacuations of all three facilities while specialized teams conducted thorough searches.
Police officials confirmed that nothing suspicious was found during the extensive security sweeps, and all threats were subsequently declared hoaxes. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad along with the Dog Squad conducted meticulous examinations of the evacuated buildings, particularly focusing on sensitive areas including judicial chambers mentioned in the threatening communications.
Investigations Reveal Email Routing Anomalies
As investigations progressed, police uncovered peculiarities in how the threatening emails were distributed. One of the email threats received by the Rajkot District and Sessions Court appears to have been originally intended for the Gir-Somnath district court and the Ahmedabad Collectorate, with Rajkot possibly added as a Blind Carbon Copy (Bcc) recipient.
"This routing anomaly is currently under active investigation," confirmed police sources, who are examining the digital trail of the threatening communications. Interestingly, while the Rajkot court received this potentially misdirected threat, neither the Gir-Somnath district court nor the Ahmedabad Collectorate actually received the email in question, according to official statements.
Standalone Threat at Veraval Court
Separately, the Gir-Somnath district court at Veraval received what police described as a "standalone email threat" specifically claiming that a bomb had been placed in a judge's chamber. This distinct communication prompted immediate evacuation and security protocols at the Veraval facility, though this threat too was ultimately determined to be unfounded.
The simultaneous nature of these threats across multiple districts has raised concerns about coordinated attempts to disrupt judicial and administrative functions in Gujarat. Security agencies are examining potential patterns and motivations behind these hoax communications, which caused significant public concern and operational disruption despite their ultimately false nature.
Local authorities have reassured citizens that all facilities have been declared safe following comprehensive security checks, and normal operations have resumed at the affected courts and collectorates. The incidents have prompted reviews of security protocols for handling such threats across Gujarat's judicial and administrative infrastructure.
