A serious fire erupted in a cluster of commercial establishments located in the Farooqnagar area under the jurisdiction of the Falaknuma police station in Hyderabad on Monday. The incident caused substantial damage to multiple businesses specializing in furniture and mattresses.

According to Falaknuma inspector E Jangaiah, the fire impacted a row of four distinct shops that operated under a total of seven commercial shutters. All these establishments were engaged in the furniture and mattress trade. Additionally, a temporary motorcycle repair stall set up on the adjacent footpath was also consumed by the flames, resulting in the complete destruction of a bike that was parked there for servicing.
Origin and Spread of the Blaze
Police authorities reported that the fire initially started in one of the shops situated near the Farooqnagar bus stand. Preliminary investigations strongly suggest that an electrical short circuit was the likely cause of the outbreak. The flames spread rapidly from the point of origin, engulfing neighboring shops within a matter of minutes and creating a scene of panic among local residents.
Emergency Response and Firefighting Efforts
Upon receiving alerts about the emergency, two fire tenders were immediately dispatched from the Chandrayangutta fire station to the location. Firefighting personnel engaged in intense operations for approximately one hour before successfully bringing the conflagration under control.
