Hyderabad Advocate Murder: Brother's Failed Attempts to Stage Accidents Revealed
In a shocking development in the murder case of advocate G Swapna, Moinabad police have disclosed that her brother, G Raju, attempted to kill her twice earlier, meticulously staging both incidents as road accidents. This revelation emerged during the custodial interrogation of Raju and three other co-accused, leading to the arrest of a local man for allegedly providing Swapna's location details during these attempts.
Murder and Initial Investigations
Swapna was tragically murdered on February 4 at Kethireddypally near Moinabad. Prior to her death, she had filed two separate road accident complaints with Chevella and Moinabad police in November 2025 and January 2026. In these complaints, she reported that unidentified individuals had rammed her two-wheeler with a car and a bulldozer, respectively. During the investigation of these accidents, Swapna expressed suspicions that her brother might be behind both incidents, though she escaped with injuries each time.
Police initially verified Raju's mobile phone location and call data records to determine if he was following her or communicating with potential suspects. Chevella DCP Yogesh Goutham stated, "Raju's mobile phone location or call data analysis did not indicate that he was involved in the accidents. However, after the murder, we examined the phone location details of the co-accused in the murder case, and it became evident that one of them, V Veeresh, followed Swapna and was in the same areas where she was at the time of both accidents."
Motive and Conspiracy Uncovered
The investigation uncovered a sinister motive behind the attacks. According to police, Raju sought to take possession of four acres of family land in Kethireddypally, which was currently registered in his sister Swapna's name. He allegedly enlisted the help of E Sandeep from Moinabad to eliminate her, promising half an acre of the land to Sandeep and offering money to Veeresh for his role in the attempts.
Veeresh confessed to acting on the instructions of Raju and Sandeep. To avoid detection, Raju used WhatsApp calls to communicate with Sandeep and Veeresh, promptly deleting the call logs after each conversation.
Details of the Failed Attempts
First Attempt (November 6, 2025): As per Sandeep's instructions, Veeresh rented a car from a friend in Shankarpally mandal for ₹10,000. He rammed Swapna's scooter at Mudimyal Gate at 10:10 AM. Police noted that the location was deliberately chosen due to the absence of CCTV cameras for about two kilometers, as it is a reserve forest area.
Second Attempt (January 11, 2026): Veeresh targeted Swapna near Pavani Resort between Moinabad and Kethireddypally. He hid a bulldozer borrowed from his cousin in a nearby mango grove for two days, taking it out around 7 PM when Swapna was passing by. To evade the resort's CCTV cameras, he did not switch on the bulldozer's lights. After this attempt also failed, Veeresh hid the bulldozer in the grove for another day before returning it to his cousin at night.
Arrests and Legal Proceedings
Based on the confessions of the accused, police arrested Mangali Sekhar from Kethireddypally for allegedly providing Swapna's location details during the two failed attempts. DCP Yogesh Goutham confirmed, "The accused confessed to their involvement in both previous attempted murder offences. Based on their confession, we arrested Mangali Sekhar from Kethireddypally, who helped the accused by providing Swapna's location details during the two failed attempts."
In the murder case, Raju, Sandeep, Veeresh, and Shiva are listed as accused. For the two attempted murder cases, Raju, Sandeep, Veeresh, and Sekhar will be charged. All accused are currently in judicial remand as the investigation continues to unfold the full extent of this family dispute turned deadly.
