Hyderabad Police Crack Daylight Robbery Case, Arrest Couple Within 24 Hours
In a swift and efficient operation, the Malkajgiri police in Hyderabad successfully solved a daylight robbery case within just 24 hours, leading to the arrest of a couple on Thursday. The authorities also recovered a stolen gold chain from their possession, bringing a quick resolution to the distressing incident.
Details of the Robbery Incident
The robbery occurred on Wednesday around 5 PM at the residence of 65-year-old housewife M Lakshmikantam in Hanumanpet, Malkajgiri. At the time, Lakshmikantam was alone at home when a couple, holding a baby girl, knocked on her door. Initially, they requested work, but when Lakshmikantam declined, the woman asked for water for the child.
As Lakshmikantam turned to fetch water, the man followed her into the house and forcefully yanked a gold chain weighing approximately two tola from her neck. The couple then fled the scene immediately, leaving the elderly woman shaken and without her valuable possession.
Police Investigation and Arrest
Following the incident, Lakshmikantam's daughter lodged a formal complaint with the Malkajgiri police. The investigative team promptly verified CCTV footage from the neighbourhood, which proved crucial in tracking the accused. By Thursday afternoon, the police had located and apprehended the couple in Ram Nagar.
The accused have been identified as N Kiran, 29, a Rapido driver, and his wife Pavani, 32, who works as a labourer. During interrogation, the couple admitted to committing the robbery, citing severe financial hardships as their motive. In addition to recovering the stolen gold chain, the police also seized the scooter used by the accused during the crime.

After their arrest, the couple was produced before a local court, where they were remanded to judicial custody. The swift action by the Malkajgiri police highlights their commitment to maintaining law and order in the community, ensuring that such crimes are addressed promptly to deter future incidents.
