Patna: An Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) sub-inspector died under suspicious circumstances at a hospital in the Digha police station area of Patna on Sunday. His body was discovered below the hospital building. Police suspect he either died by suicide or fell accidentally.
Details of the Deceased
The deceased, Vijay Singh, 44, was a resident of Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district. He served as a sub-inspector with the ITBP and was posted at the Jalalpur camp in Saran district, where he worked in the wireless branch.
Health and Hospitalization
According to police, Singh had been unwell for several days, suffering from a stomach ailment and persistent loose motion. He was admitted to the hospital on June 3, and his condition fluctuated during treatment.
Discovery and Investigation
The hospital administration informed Digha police around noon, following which a team reached the spot and began inquiries. Digha police station sub-inspector Sujeet Kumar said, “Initial inputs revealed that Singh went to a washroom on the fifth floor of the hospital. The washroom door was found locked from the inside, and later information emerged indicating that he may have fallen from a window. The death appears suspicious, while all possible angles are being investigated.”
Given the seriousness of the case, police called an FSL team to collect evidence and examine the scene. “Clarity on the cause of death will emerge only after the post-mortem report and the FSL findings are received. Meanwhile, the police are continuing to conduct a detailed investigation, including verification of hospital records and circumstances surrounding Singh’s final movements inside the facility,” Sujeet added.
