Jaipur Police Crack Major Silver Jewellery Burglary Case Worth Rs 10 Lakh
In a significant breakthrough, the Jaipur city police announced on Thursday that they have successfully solved a high-value burglary case reported from a silver jewellery workshop located in the historic Mehandi ka Chauk area. The police have managed to recover stolen silver jewellery valued at approximately Rs 10 lakh, marking a crucial victory in their efforts to combat property crimes in the region.
Arrests Made and Accused Identified
According to official statements, the police have arrested two individuals in connection with the theft. Rehan, aged 20, was apprehended for allegedly committing the burglary, while Mohammad Sajid, aged 26, was taken into custody for receiving the stolen property. A third suspect, identified as Shafigul, is currently absconding, and a manhunt is underway to locate and arrest him.
Station House Officer (SHO) of Manak Chowk police station, Rakesh Khyalia, confirmed the arrests and emphasized that the investigation is ongoing to trace the remaining suspect linked to this criminal activity.
Details of the Burglary Incident
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Karan Sharma provided insights into the modus operandi of the crime. The burglary was executed on the night of January 26 at a workshop-cum-shop situated in Mehandi ka Chauk, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Manak Chowk police station.
The First Information Report (FIR) was lodged by Lakshman Singh, the proprietor of the silver jewellery workshop. Singh discovered the theft when he opened his shop on the morning of January 27 and found the locks of his safe broken. Police investigations revealed that the accused had breached a wall of the workshop to gain entry and made off with around 3 kilograms of silver jewellery.
Investigation and Recovery Process
Following the incident, the police launched an intensive investigation. They deployed plainclothes surveillance teams and meticulously scanned footage from over 100 CCTV cameras installed in the surrounding lanes and entry routes of the area. This extensive technological effort was complemented by local intelligence inputs, which played a pivotal role in tracking down the perpetrators.
Based on technical analysis and these intelligence leads, the police traced and arrested Rehan. During interrogation, Rehan confessed to the crime and led the investigative team to the recovery of the stolen silver items. He also disclosed that he had committed the burglary along with his associate, Shafigul, who remains at large.
Pattern of Criminal Activities
Police further revealed that the accused had been targeting locked or vacant premises in congested localities. Their method involved entering through rooftops or windows and escaping through narrow lanes to evade detection. This pattern suggests a series of planned thefts in the area.
Additionally, it was uncovered that Rehan had sold a portion of the stolen jewellery to scrap dealer Mohammad Sajid at significantly low prices. Sajid was subsequently arrested for receiving stolen property, and the jewellery sold to him was successfully recovered by the authorities.
Confessions and Ongoing Efforts
During the course of the investigation, the arrested accused confessed to their involvement in other thefts in the vicinity, indicating a broader criminal network. The police are now intensifying their efforts to trace and arrest the absconding accused, Shafigul, while continuing their investigation to uncover any further links or accomplices.
This case highlights the effectiveness of combining technological surveillance with traditional policing methods to solve complex crimes. The Jaipur police have demonstrated commendable diligence in recovering the stolen property and bringing the culprits to justice, thereby reinforcing public safety in the city.
