Tragic Suicide of MBA Graduate After Viral Video Controversy

A 28-year-old MBA graduate from Jalna district in Maharashtra has died by suicide after facing severe online harassment and threats over a viral video that showed him allegedly urinating near the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Railway Station. The victim, identified as Mahesh Aade from Dhokmal village in Paratwada taluka, was the only son of his parents and had recently left his job to focus on the family's agricultural land.

The Viral Video Incident and Subsequent Harassment

The controversy began when a group of youths recorded Aade and his friend allegedly relieving themselves near the recently painted board of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Railway Station, which was officially renamed from Aurangabad Railway Station on October 15, 2025. The individuals who filmed the video accused Aade of intentionally disrespecting the historical figure, and the clip quickly went viral across various social media platforms.

Despite Aade and his friend uploading an apology video, the online harassment continued unabated. According to Aade's uncle, "He was disturbed as he was receiving a lot of abuse both on social media as well as on his phone. On November 4, the railway police came to our residence, where he apologised again and even recorded a video. However, he continued receiving life-threatening calls".

The Tragic Outcome and Police Investigation

On November 5, 2024, Aade left his home early in the morning without informing his family members. When he failed to return, concerned relatives began searching for him. The search ended tragically when his mobile phone and slippers were discovered near their farm well. Local residents subsequently recovered his body from the well.

Assistant Police Inspector Ganesh Survase of Ashti police station confirmed that Aade died by suicide at around 10 am on November 5 by jumping into the well. The police have registered a case under Section 108 (abetment of suicide) and Section 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against seven individuals allegedly involved in circulating the video, trolling Aade, and issuing threats.

API Survase provided updates on the investigation: "We have identified two out of the seven accused, and a team has gone to nab them. There are thousands of messages and many Instagram accounts – we are verifying which accounts sent threats or repeatedly circulated the clip with malicious intent".

Background of the Victim and Ongoing Probe

Mahesh Aade had completed his MBA degree and was previously working with the panchayat samiti on a contract basis. He had left this job a few months earlier at his parents' insistence to manage the family's agricultural land, which spans over more than 10 acres. His body has been sent for post-mortem examination as the investigation continues.

The Ashti police are conducting further investigations to identify additional individuals involved in the online harassment campaign. The case highlights the serious consequences of cyber bullying and online mob justice in contemporary digital society.
