Security Forces Re-engage Terrorists in J&K's Dolgam as Operation Trashi-I Enters Day 14
An encounter broke out early Saturday in the Dolgam area of Jammu and Kashmir, after security forces re-established contact with terrorists. The area was cordoned off as Operation Trashi-I entered its fourteenth day of intense operations.
Joint Operation Details and Intelligence Coordination
During the ongoing joint Operation TRASHI-I, contact with terrorists was re-established in the early hours of January 31, 2026, in the general area of Dolgam by troops of the White Knight Corps, Jammu & Kashmir Police, and the CRPF. Intelligence from all sources had been meticulously coordinated to provide critical inputs for executing the operation on the ground. A tight cordon has been established, and operations are currently in progress as security forces maintain a vigilant stance.
Intensified Anti-Terror Efforts in Kishtwar District
This development comes just hours after anti-terror operations intensified in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir against three Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists. The operation in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar has also led to the continued suspension of internet services, with connectivity cut in areas within a six-kilometre radius. Affected locations include Singpura, Arigam, Dwathar, and Naidgam.
The shutdown, initially imposed on January 23, was extended until Friday at 11:59 pm, according to an order issued by the Jammu and Kashmir home department. This measure aims to prevent the misuse of digital communication by terrorist elements during the ongoing security operations.
Challenges and Previous Engagements in the Region
The operation, launched on January 18 in a snowbound area, has faced significant challenges due to tough terrain, despite repeated contacts with the terrorists. The militants have exploited the landscape to their advantage, escaping through dense vegetation and deep snow. On the first day of the operation, one paratrooper was tragically killed, and seven soldiers sustained injuries.
Subsequent encounters on January 22 at Mali Dana Top and on January 25 in the Janseer–Kandiwar area also concluded with the militants slipping away, highlighting the difficulties faced by security forces in such hostile environments. The persistence of these operations underscores the ongoing efforts to neutralize terrorist threats in the region.
As Operation Trashi-I continues, security forces remain committed to ensuring the safety and stability of Jammu and Kashmir, leveraging coordinated intelligence and strategic cordons to counter terrorist activities effectively.
