Kanpur Fraudster with Rs 25,000 Reward Arrested in Lucknow for Rs 81.6 Lakh Job Scam

In a significant breakthrough, police have arrested Satnam Singh, a notorious inter-state fraudster who carried a reward of Rs 25,000, from Lucknow. The arrest relates to an alleged embezzlement of Rs 81.6 lakh in a job scam targeting the municipal corporation.

Arrest Details and Investigation

Satnam Singh was apprehended from the Jankipuram area in Lucknow, thanks to a coordinated effort involving informers and advanced surveillance techniques. The arrest follows a case filed in 2023 by AK Bajpai, a resident of Pashupati Nagar in Naubasta, Kanpur. Bajpai accused Satnam, who hails from IIT Devi Sahay Nagar, of defrauding him in a elaborate job scheme.

How the Scam Unfolded

According to police reports, the fraud began in 2020 when Satnam Singh allegedly lured Bajpai by boasting of strong government connections. He promised to secure jobs for several youths in the municipal corporation, leveraging his purported influence. Trusting these claims, Bajpai handed over a staggering sum of Rs 81.60 lakh to the accused.

To make the scam appear legitimate, Satnam provided fake joining letters to the victims. However, these documents later turned out to be fraudulent, exposing the deceit. Despite repeated demands from Bajpai for the return of the money, Satnam allegedly evaded repayment and eventually absconded, leaving the victims in financial distress.

Police Efforts and Reward Announcement

Authorities launched a search operation to locate Satnam but initially found no clues, prompting them to announce a reward of Rs 25,000 for information leading to his capture. The investigation uncovered that Satnam Singh is a seasoned criminal with multiple cases already registered against him across states. Police described him as an inter-state fraudster who has carried out similar fraudulent activities, including in Kushinagar.

Legal Action and Statements

An inspector from the Kalyanpur police station confirmed the arrest, stating that the cunning criminal has been taken into custody. Action is now underway to ensure he is sent to jail, with authorities emphasizing their commitment to cracking down on such frauds. This case highlights the risks of job scams and the importance of vigilance in financial transactions.
