Kanpur Man in Drunken Rage Forces Wife to Drink Toxic Dye, Locks Up Children
In a shocking incident of domestic violence in Kanpur, a man allegedly subjected his wife to a brutal assault, locked their three young children in a room, and forced her to consume a poisonous dye after she objected to his habitual drinking. The accused, identified as Dhaniram, fled the scene as his wife's condition rapidly deteriorated, leaving the family in trauma.
Drunken Rage Escalates into Life-Threatening Assault
According to police reports from the Panki area, the incident unfolded on Saturday afternoon when Dhaniram, a private sector employee from Gangaganj, returned home in an intoxicated state. His wife, 30-year-old Ritu, confronted him about his drinking habits, which reportedly triggered a violent outburst.
"He started beating my mother when she objected to his drinking," stated their 8-year-old daughter Naina in her account to authorities. "When my brothers and I tried to stop him, he beat us too and locked us in a room."
Police investigation reveals that after locking the children—Naina and her brothers Nayan and Rishabh—Dhaniram procured a dye commonly used for coloring clothes. He then mixed it with water and forcibly made his wife drink the toxic substance.
Children's Brave Escape Leads to Police Intervention
While confined, the children managed to escape from the room and immediately alerted neighbors about the horrific situation. They also dialed the emergency number 112, prompting a swift police response.
Officers rushed to the scene and found Ritu in critical condition. She was immediately transported to a private hospital where she remains under medical supervision with her condition described as serious.
"There was a dispute between the couple," confirmed Panki Station House Officer Manoj Singh Bhadauria. "After the dispute, the husband forcibly made her drink dye. Appropriate legal action will be initiated once we receive a formal complaint."
Pattern of Domestic Abuse Uncovered
Further investigation has uncovered that this was not an isolated incident. Dhaniram allegedly had a history of returning home drunk and instigating physical altercations with his wife. The children had frequently become victims when attempting to protect their mother during these violent episodes.
The police are actively searching for Dhaniram, who remains at large following the attack. Authorities have assured that strict measures will be taken against the accused once apprehended, highlighting the severity of the crimes committed.
This distressing case has brought renewed attention to domestic violence issues in the region, with community members expressing outrage over the brutality inflicted upon the woman and her children. The incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers posed by alcohol-fueled aggression within households.
