Kanpur Woman Faces Brutal Surgical Blade Attack Days Before Wedding
In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through the community, a 24-year-old woman in Kanpur was allegedly attacked with a surgical blade just a week before her scheduled wedding. The attack occurred late Wednesday in the Nazirabad area after she refused to go for dinner with a man known to her family.
Details of the Violent Assault
The victim, who resides in the Bhadauriya Chauraha area under the jurisdiction of the Nazirabad police station, suffered multiple cuts on her face, hands, and wrists. According to reports, the accused, identified as Golu, visited her house and insisted she join him for dinner. When she declined, citing his intoxicated state, he allegedly launched a vicious assault using a surgical blade.
In a desperate attempt to protect herself, the woman used both hands to shield her face, resulting in severe injuries to her limbs. The commotion alerted nearby residents, who rushed to the scene. Although they managed to apprehend and beat the accused, he eventually fled before police could arrive.
Medical Condition and Police Response
The injured woman was immediately rushed to Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) Hospital, where doctors treated her for 13 cuts across her body. Medical professionals have confirmed that, thankfully, the facial injuries are minor and will not require corrective surgery. This news brings a small measure of relief amidst the trauma, especially with her wedding originally set for February 7.
Following a complaint from the family, the Nazirabad police registered a First Information Report (FIR) and launched an intensive search operation. Multiple raids were conducted across the area, leading to the arrest of the accused late Thursday. Nazirabad police station in-charge Rajkesar confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect was apprehended after a thorough investigation.
