Kasba Hotel Murder: The ₹2,000 Dispute That Turned Deadly
In a shocking revelation from Kolkata, a dispute over a mere ₹2,000 payment led to the brutal murder of chartered accountant Adarsh Losalka at a hotel in Kasba. The 32-year-old professional was found dead inside the hotel room on November 22, with police investigations uncovering a tragic sequence of events that began with a connection made through a dating app.
The Fatal Meeting and Escalating Argument
According to police sources, Losalka had arranged to meet the two accused individuals - Dhruvo Mitra and Kamal Saha - at the Kasba hotel on November 21. The trio had connected through Bumble dating app just two days earlier on November 20, where the accused allegedly maintained a joint profile.
Police investigation reveals that Losalka had agreed to book two rooms in his name at the hotel. The three men reportedly spent the evening partying together in one of the rooms. However, what began as a social gathering turned fatal when an argument erupted over payment issues.
During interrogation, the accused claimed that Losalka refused to pay the agreed amount of ₹2,000, leading to heated arguments between them. The verbal confrontation quickly escalated into physical violence, resulting in a scuffle that ultimately claimed the young CA's life.
Gruesome Discovery and Robbery
The tragedy came to light when hotel staff discovered Losalka's body the following day on November 22. The scene was particularly disturbing - investigators found the chartered accountant naked with his legs tied and suffering from a fractured nose.
The accused didn't stop at the murder. Police sources confirm that Mitra and Saha stole ₹1,500 from Losalka's wallet along with his ATM card and mobile phone before fleeing the scene. They booked a bike ride through a mobile app and escaped to Ultadanga, beginning their attempt to access more of the victim's funds.
Digital Fraud and Eventual Surrender
The perpetrators demonstrated alarming technical savvy in their attempt to profit from their crime. They inserted Losalka's SIM card into their own phone and used the 'forgot PIN' feature to reset his ATM PIN. The new PIN arrived via SMS, allowing them to withdraw ₹11,000 from his bank account.
The accused then embarked on a journey across multiple locations including Barrackpore, Naihati and Krishnanagar before returning to Dum Dum. By this time, Kolkata Police had launched an intensive search operation. Facing increasing pressure, both accused surrendered to police on November 23.
Investigators have discovered that the dating app used to connect with Losalka had been deleted from the accused's phones. Police are currently examining whether the same method had been used to target other individuals. Additional evidence is being gathered from multiple CCTV cameras at the Kasba hotel to verify the sequence of events and cross-check the statements provided by the accused.
The Kasba hotel murder case has sent shockwaves through Kolkata's professional community, highlighting how seemingly minor disputes can escalate into tragic outcomes. The police continue their investigation while the city mourns the loss of a young professional whose life was cut short over what began as a disagreement about ₹2,000.
