Kolhapur Man Arrested for Wife's Murder Following Fatal Assault
A 43-year-old man from Kolhapur has been arrested by local police on charges of murder after his wife succumbed to injuries from a severe physical assault. The victim, Swati Hubale (40), passed away on February 15 after struggling for her life for approximately 10 days in a private hospital.
Details of the Tragic Incident
On February 7, Ganesh Shankar Hubale, a resident of the Shaniwar Peth area in Kolhapur city, admitted his wife Swati to a private hospital following the assault. According to police reports, Hubale fled the scene after her admission and misled Swati's relatives by falsely claiming she was missing.
The post-mortem report confirmed that Hubale attempted to choke Swati to death, leading to her critical condition. Inspector Shivram Kanherkar of the Laxmipuri police station stated, "We have booked him for murder. He was hiding to evade arrest, but eventually we caught him." The arrest came after Swati's relatives demanded legal action against Hubale, who runs a shop selling fetas (traditional headgear).
Background of the Couple
The police investigation revealed that the couple married in 2012 and have two children—a daughter and a son. Reports indicate that the Hubales frequently engaged in arguments and conflicts, which may have escalated into the violent incident.
This case highlights ongoing concerns about domestic violence and the severe consequences of physical abuse. The Kolhapur police are continuing their investigation to gather further evidence and ensure justice is served in this tragic matter.
