Two Injured in Kolkata's Posta After Water Balloon Clash Escalates into Violent Assault
Two individuals sustained injuries following a violent clash that erupted in the Posta region of Kolkata on Tuesday. The altercation was triggered when water balloons filled with colored liquid were hurled at unsuspecting passers-by and local traders, leading to a physical confrontation.
FIR Filed Against Accused in Late-Night Incident
Hariom Upadhyay, a 20-year-old resident of Radha Madhav Shah Lane, lodged a formal complaint with the police. The FIR names Sahil Mali from Sikderpara Lane and two other unidentified individuals as the primary accused. According to the complaint, the assault occurred around 10 pm on Monday at Raja Brajendra Street in Posta.
The dispute reportedly began when Upadhyay protested against the throwing of water balloons towards him as he was crossing the road. In response, the accused allegedly assaulted him, punching him in the face and nose, and striking him with a metal bangle, resulting in visible injuries.
Police Register Case Under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Sections
Law enforcement authorities have registered a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), specifically sections 126(2), 115(2), 118(1), and 54. These sections pertain to various offenses including assault, causing hurt, and public nuisance, reflecting the serious nature of the incident.
Police officers stated that efforts are underway to identify the two unknown accused mentioned in the complaint. A thorough local inquiry is being conducted to verify the exact sequence of events and gather additional details.
