Koraput Teen Detained, Four Young Men Arrested in Shocking Double Murder Case
In a chilling development from Koraput district, a 17-year-old girl has been detained and four young men have been arrested for allegedly murdering her 45-year-old mother and 14-year-old brother before dumping their bodies in a canal. The police cracked the case within 48 hours of registration, revealing a tragic story of family opposition to a relationship that allegedly turned deadly.
Family Opposition Allegedly Triggered Brutal Crime
According to police investigations, the group killed the mother and son after the girl's family opposed her relationship with the prime accused. The deceased woman, who was separated from her husband, operated a roadside eatery to support her family. Her son was a Class XI student, while her daughter is currently studying in Plus II.
Preliminary investigation suggests the teenage girl and her boyfriend meticulously planned the murders. Koraput Superintendent of Police Rohit Verma provided disturbing details of how the crime unfolded.
Gruesome Details of the Nighttime Attack
"The girl allegedly opened the door at night, allowing three of the accused to enter her house," Verma told reporters. "The throats of the woman and her son were slit with a knife while they were asleep. After committing the crime, the accused packed the bodies in sacks, carried them on a scooter and dumped them in the Kolab main canal."
The case was officially registered on Monday night following a complaint lodged by a 42-year-old relative residing under Jeypore Sadar police station limits. The woman and her son had been missing since February 20, raising initial concerns among family members.
Swift Police Investigation Unravels the Crime
During the initial probe into the disappearance, police made a crucial connection to an unidentified body recovered earlier under Kotpad police station limits. This discovery set in motion a rapid investigation that would soon yield multiple arrests.
Police first apprehended the 21-year-old prime accused, who was allegedly in a relationship with the detained girl, along with his 19-year-old associate. "Based on their statements, we recovered the woman's body from the canal," the SP revealed. "The knife used in the crime was seized from the associate."
Two more accused—aged 19 and 20—were subsequently arrested for their involvement in the crime. Police also seized the scooter allegedly used to transport the bodies from the murder scene to the canal.
Ongoing Investigation and Community Impact
The brutal nature of the crime has sent shockwaves through the Koraput community, raising questions about family dynamics, teenage relationships, and violent outcomes. The police have confirmed that further investigation is underway to uncover any additional details or potential accomplices.
This case highlights several critical issues:
