In a deeply disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, a man has been accused of murdering his father, mother, and sister before burying their bodies inside a rented house in Kottur, located in the Vijayanagar district. The horrific crime reportedly occurred on January 27, leaving residents and authorities stunned by its brutality.

The accused has been identified as Akshay Kumar, a resident of Doddakittadahalli village in Hosadurga taluk of Chitradurga district. According to police reports, Akshay allegedly killed his father Bhimraj, mother Jayalakshmi, and sister Amrutha at their rented residence in Kottur, where the family had been living for several years. The family was known to be engaged in tyre-retreading work as their primary source of livelihood.
Attempt to Mislead Police and Subsequent Confession
After committing the alleged triple murder, Akshay reportedly traveled to Bengaluru in an attempt to cover up his actions. He went to the Tilak Nagar police station and lodged a missing-persons complaint, falsely claiming that his parents and sister had gone missing and were untraceable. However, during sustained and intensive interrogation by the authorities, he eventually broke down and confessed to the gruesome killings.
Police Investigation and Current Status
The motive behind these tragic killings remains unclear at this stage, with police stating that it is yet to be ascertained. Further investigation is actively underway to uncover the reasons behind this heinous act. Senior police officials, including Vijayanagara SP S Jahnavi and Kudligi DSP Mallesh, rushed to the crime scene to conduct a preliminary investigation. The accused is currently being brought to Kudligi to help locate the exact burial site of the bodies within the rented house.
