Kurukshetra Fast Track Court Delivers Justice in POCSO Case

In a significant ruling, a fast track special court in Kurukshetra district has handed down a stern sentence to a convict under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The court, presided over by the additional district and sessions judge, has sentenced the accused, Vishal, to 5 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a total fine of Rs 55,000. This decision underscores the judiciary's commitment to protecting minors and ensuring swift justice in sensitive cases.

Details of the Case and Investigation

According to the Kurukshetra district attorney, the convict, Vishal, is a resident of Ladwa in Kurukshetra district. The case originated from a complaint filed by a local woman, who reported that her eldest daughter, a minor studying in Class IX at a government school, was targeted on October 14, 2023. On that day, the girl went to school only to find it closed. As she was returning home, the accused allegedly molested her, attempted to force her into his car, and threatened to kill her when she raised an alarm before fleeing the scene.

The police promptly registered a case under relevant sections, and the investigation was led by sub-inspector Kamlesh Kumari. During the probe, Vishal was arrested and placed in judicial custody as per court orders. After a thorough investigation, the challan was presented before the court, setting the stage for legal proceedings.
